What makes you most proud of your time so far at Specsavers?

Giving people the opportunity and seeing them seize this opportunity with both hands and watching them and their business grow way beyond what they ever imagined possible gives me great pleasure.

I love the fact the business is so professional and we have so many dedicated people that work for us but we also know how to have some fun. We have many Specsavers functions that are put on for partners, team members and support office.

What are the best things about your role?


The variety in my role is a good part, no two days are the same and every day brings its new challenges! I am very fortunate to work across South Australia and Western Australia so I get to see how our different business partners are working. I enjoy being able to provide guidance and coaching to team members and seeing them grow in confidence in their role. Being surrounded by so many talented individuals keeps me thinking how I can progress at the same time.

Building and developing relationships with our partners is probably my favourite part of the role and at times can be the most challenging but at the same time brings the biggest rewards.

How have you developed?

I have attended a number of excellent internal and external training courses with Specsavers. Like a lot of people I had always avoided public speaking as it was my idea of hell, I would rather go the dentist then speak in front of 20 people. In the last few years this has completely changed, through some fantastic training, good coaching and what Specsavers encourages you to do which is practice, practice and more practice I now look forward to and enjoy this side of my job. It’s still a challenge but one I look forward to presenting at what event I am part of.

Describe the culture?

Good question and one I talk to people a lot about, the Specsavers Culture for me is about treating people as you expect to be treated yourself. I like the fact that everyone shares a common vision and that there is a genuine belief in what we are trying to achieve at Specsavers.

Relationships are at the heart of everything we do, which is one of my favourite aspects of the role.
